B8035 Update

As part of their regular safety checks on the B8035 today (16 August 2025) officers from ÄÛ²ÝÓ°Ôº Council discovered that rocks across the road have been removed by what would have been heavy duty equipment and the Road Closed signage also moved.

We would remind all road users that the road has been closed due to two recent rock falls, causing significant damage to the road surface as well as the safety barrier.

Until a specialist survey has been carried out the road must remain closed for safety purposes. Further to this, the removal of the road signage places a significant danger to the travelling public as the road surface has large potholes following the previous rock fall, causing risk of injury to road users including tourists who may be unfamiliar with the road. Due to the potential serious consequences, the matter has been reported to Police Scotland.

The Road Closed signs have been replaced and a Council HGV has been put on the road to stop people inadvertently driving onto the uneven and potentially dangerous surface.

We would appeal to everyone to work with the Council to ensure that no-one is placed in any danger until the survey has been carried out and we have had a chance to repair the road to make it safe to travel on. Officers are progressing this as quickly as possible, a contractor has now been appointed, and we will provide further progress updates.
